Roy Jacuzzi started Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath® which is credited for what we know today as the Hot Tub business. Although that division of Jacuzzi, Inc. no longer builds spas, this section is focused on outdoor spas made by Jacuzzi Whirlpool from 1985-2002.

Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath® outdoor spas can be divided into 3 major productions-

First, the Older Mechanical Spas with Brown or Blue boxes with relays and switches.

Second, First Generation Electronic Spas

Third, Current Generation Electronic Spas

1985-1995 Outdoor Mechanical Spas

With BLUE or BROWN Control Boxes

The first used mostly mechanical parts and was in production circa 1985-1994. We call them MECHANICAL Spas or SCM (Service Control Module). A key way to ID Mechanical Spas is the topside control. IF you have a plunger for on/off control like above yours is a mechanical spa.

1995-2001 Electronic Outdoor Spas

In 1995 Jacuzzi Whirlpool Spas were almost completely ELECTRONIC Spas meaning they used pcboards as the operating system rather than timers and relays. We call them ELECTRONIC Spas. The easiest way to ID them is the topside control. If you have an electronic touchpad like those above, then your spa is electronic.

From 2002 to Present the Jacuzzi Hot Tub Division has built, sold, and  serviced Jacuzzi's spas. It has a different gray Jacuzzi logo.  If your spa is a Jacuzzi PREMIUM spa, click here: Link To Our Sister Site, LPS
